OVERVIEW

Battle Creek Falls is a popular and family-friendly hike located in Pleasant Grove, Utah. The trail is relatively short, only about 1.2 miles round trip, making it accessible to hikers of all ages and skill levels. The highlight of the hike is the beautiful 50-foot waterfall at the end, which is stunning in the spring and early summer when water flow is at its peak and in the winter when the waterfall freezes. The trail follows Battle Creek, offering lovely creekside views, and is surrounded by lush greenery, wildflowers, and occasional wildlife, creating a peaceful outdoor experience.

Season

Battle Creek Falls is a year-round trail, with each season offering unique scenery. In spring, the water flow is strongest due to snowmelt, and the trail is lush with wildflowers and greenery. Summer brings warm, sunny weather ideal for cooling off near the waterfall. Fall offers a colorful array of autumn foliage, creating a picturesque setting, while winter transforms the waterfall into a spectacular icy display.

In winter, ice cleats can be incredibly helpful for hiking the Battle Creek Falls trail, as the path often becomes slick with ice and snow, especially near the waterfall. Ice cleats provide extra grip on icy terrain, making it easier and safer for older kids and adults to navigate steeper, more slippery sections. For families, ice cleats can give parents peace of mind, knowing they’ll have stable footing as they assist younger children. While very young kids might not need their own ice cleats, they can be carefully guided by parents holding their hands, keeping everyone safe and confident during a winter hike.

Elevation

This trail has a manageable elevation gain of about 322 feet, making it accessible to most fitness levels. The terrain is moderate, with a clear path and some steeper sections near the waterfall, but overall, it’s a safe and enjoyable hike for families with children, groups, and even leashed pets.
